The Wives: Jennifer Lawrence to Star in Real Housewives-Inspired Murder Mystery

Wouldn't it be cool if she got to play the murderer, though?

Jennifer Lawrence is attached to produce and star in a murder mystery feature called The Wives. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence, after a “competitive situation,” is partnering with A24 and Apple Original Film to bring the project into development. This will be the second team-up of Lawrence and the studios after the 2022 movie, Causeway.

We don’t have details on the plot yet, other than that the script, co-written by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, is in the vein of the reality series, Real Housewives, where a bunch of rich, “real” housewives in a certain city or town tend to treat each other awfully (though not so awfully that someone gets murdered… yet).

There’s no director yet attached to the project. And there are also no details on who Lawrence will play, though odds are good she’ll be playing a well-to-do housewife that gets entangled in a murder. Lawrence’s previous credits, of course, include The Hunger Games movies where she played the lead, Katniss Everdeen; a handful of X-Men films, where she played Mystique (pictured above); and a part in the 2022 climate change satire Don’t Look Up.

No news yet on when the film will go into production, much less make its way to a screen near you. icon-paragraph-end
